St Patrick’s, Mombasa

The ‘Bangladesh’ slums are situated on the outskirts of Mombasa and one of the largest informal settlements with a population of about 55,000.  There are very few government services, lack of clean drinking water, lack of sanitation, overcrowding and congested living situations, poor ventilation, single parent families, and extreme poverty

Childhood malnutrition is a major health problem. Poor sanitation andpoor diet causes diarrhoea which further exacerbates any health condition.

St Patrick’s Dispensary offers child welfare clinics, nutrition programmes, TB treatment, School Health and Education Programs and an Immunisation Programme

ABC Africa provides meals through the Food By Prescription Programme, has funded nursing staff to administer immunisations and provided girls’ hygiene kits.

ABC Africa aims to support established grass roots and community projects to provide nutrition, medication and education to orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) in the most disadvantaged regions of Sub Saharan Africa
